The Standard Shutter Speed for portraits and still shots of individuals is 1/60. Since that is the standard I set the shutter speed to 1/60 and left it so that each portrait would be with exact shutter speed meant for that type of photography. Shutter Speed: 1/60 Aperture: f4 The background of this particular photo was selected because it had contrasting colors, vibrant red and blue, while there was also neutral tones such as the beiges and the grass. I enjoyed the deep contrast between the darkened face of the subject and the vibrant background that was full of life. Even though her face is mostly shadow, she still has these beautiful patches of light that highlight the high points of her face, and even though she is dark, I enjoy the detailing. Shutter Speed: 1/60 Aperture: f4 My subject here had a sour look on her face, and since a large amount of kids can relate to hatred against sports, her look against the baseball field resembles those kids and their emotions. Her face is perfectly balanced with highlights and shadows and shows that even through hatred, the sun still shines on and life still goes. This aperture truly does make her face very enticing as the background is completely blurred and her face is completely crisp making the eyes of the viewer draw right to her face. Shutter Speed: 1/60 Aperture: f4 This sewer photo truly challenges the viewer to come up with a meaning for the photo and why a photographer would choose such a background. The true reason why I choose this background is because my subject is very beautiful and even though there is dirt and grim behind her in her life, she still smiles on and preservers. Lastly, she is strikingly light with beautiful highlights on her cheeks and temples and then the side in which is facing the sewer is dark with shadows because her past may have been dark but because she is moving forward, to the right, she is coming into the light. Shutter Speed: 1/60 Aperture: f4 This male subject, even though heavily shadowed, still has key highpoint and then hidden features that are masked by the shadows. His eyes, even though glaring longingly at the camera, are still hidden in the shadow of nature, making it possible that there are some underlying messages to the look he is giving. The background is very dark with a frame of a white border framing him in this cornered area. This photo is extremely dark, but the scarce moments of light are very capturing as although it might not be the key focal points of ones face, it still is very well detailed! Shutter Speed: 1/60
Aperture: f4 Although containing multiple multiple detailed focal points, has beautiful framing and allows the rule of thirds to guide the viewers eye throughout the picture, along with the help of leading lines. This subject is a soccer player herself and since she is happy the viewer can understand that the sport must make her happy in a sense. The lighting on her face is beautiful as the focal side is beautifully light with amazing natural light, while she still does contain some mysterious shadows on her other side. The lighting of her face is simply a blessing from the sun because natural light can be tricky sometimes to properly light a subjects face, but thanks to this mid-morning sun, the lighting turned out astonishing! I truly am thankful to the sun because this lighting was exactly what I wanted as I wanted to highlight her high points, and shadow her smile lines and eye sockets so that the viewer could receive the message of happiness/enjoyment on her face.
